Last week saw excellent performances and results for both English sides in the football UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
Chelsea and Manchester City managed their away legs perfectly and have left themselves with a very real chance of progressing through to the final.
However, there’s a lot of football still to be played. As the second legs approach, let’s take a further look at these two huge matches.
Manchester City to win
Manchester City v PSG (2-0)
The first of the UEFA Champions League semi-final return legs comes from the Etihad as Manchester City welcome PSG.
The Citizens left Paris with a hard-fought victory last week, with two goals inside ten second half minutes putting the tie firmly in their grasp.
That said, there is still work to be done. PSG have already shown how clinical they can be on the road, scoring four at the Nou Camp and another three in Munich.
I think City will approach this carefully. They know full well that eventually, PSG will have to go for it and if that materialises, I think City have more than enough to punish the visitors on the counter.
Chelsea to win
Chelsea v Real Madrid (1-0)
Onto Wednesday night’s match where Chelsea have a huge opportunity as they take on Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge.
This is the type of game where Thomas Tuchel thrives. With an away goal in the bag, he is sure to have his side well drilled with the aim of giving nothing away. If Chelsea are happy to sit in, I think there is every chance they could nick one on the break against a Madrid defence that’s looked shaky in recent weeks.
With that in mind, I’m siding with the Blues’ to go through and make it a second all English UEFA Champions League final in three years.
