The first legs threw up some surprise results and performances, but BetVictor Brand Ambassador Michael Owen shares his thoughts on what to expect in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
Real Madrid (3) vs Chelsea (1)
Game to be drawn 1-1
That was a brilliant result for Real Madrid in London. There’s only one man to talk about, Karim Benzema! I’m not sure I’ve ever seen two better headers in the same game. He’s in the form of his life and is such a talisman for this side. Chelsea had chances at Stamford Bridge and probably should have scored more. I can see them scoring in Madrid, but Real are so experienced and will do enough to go through. 1-1.
Bayern (0) vs Villarreal (1)
Bayern to win 2-0
What a result in Spain that was for Villarreal. If anything, they should have won by more. I just fear they are going to regret some of those missed chances. Bayern are a different animal at home and cruised to the win over Salzburg in Munich in the last round. I don’t see this being anywhere close to as emphatic, but I fancy Bayern. 2-0.
Liverpool (3) vs Benfica (1)
Liverpool to win 2-0
This should be a straightforward night at Anfield. Benfica caused a few problems in Lisbon, but Liverpool deserved to win by at least a couple of goals. I like the look of Darwin Nunez, but I can’t see him or Benfica causing too many problems. 2-0 Liverpool.
Atletico (0) vs Man City (1)
Man City to win 2-1
I’m looking forward to this one. The game in Manchester wasn’t much of a spectacle, but 1-0 wasn’t a bad result for Atletico. They’ll have to go for it here, and the atmosphere should be fantastic. I think Atletico opening up will suit Man City though, I can see them getting a couple of goals. I think they’ll edge this 2-1.
