League Two Gameweek 13: MK Dons to Make It Three in a Row at Cambridge

Of the four sides relegated from League One last season, Milton Keynes Dons looked best-prepared for an instant return.

They did, however, suffer blows to their promotion ambitions during a winless September, when their attacking play was not quite at the level Paul Tisdale might have hoped and they had problems defending the leads they did manage to attain.

Both problems though, have seemingly been fixed this month; the Buckinghamshire outfit began October with a 2-0 win at Port Vale, then followed that up with a 3-0 home victory over Cheltenham four days later.

What will please Tisdale is the control his side exerted on both games. Jordan Houghton does the simple things well in midfield, George Williams is proving an intelligent operator at right wing-back while centre-back Jordan Moore-Taylor has shown excellent organizational qualities.

Because MK keep their shape well and retain possession stringently, goalkeeper Lee Nicholls has spent much of his recent games untested.

His opposite number, David Forde, has been a great leader over the years for various clubs but the fact he is now 38 cannot be ignored and, as with any player, age might be impacting on his performance levels, if last week’s 2-0 defeat at Crawley is anything to go by.

Of course, there are other problems at the Abbey; they are also short on reliable strikers. Ade Azeez, Barry Corr and Jonathan Forte have their own individual qualities but, with just three league goals between them this season, have not quite produced in front of goal.

We’ll take the 15/8 on MK Dons to win this match with Under 3.5 goals; the price looks appealing, considering that all five of MK’s victories have come with three or fewer goals scored, as have six of Cambridge’s eight defeats.
