Jason Steele

In the goal this week it’s Jason Steele, what a story this is! It was a big call by De Zerbi and he showed a lot of faith, bringing him in for just his second Premier League start. He did a great job though and I think he’ll keep his place moving forward. I’m delighted for the lad.

Ben White

Ben White has to be in my side. I’ve always liked Ben, he’s a really good footballer. He’s got everything you’d need as a defender, and I think he’ll develop into a top player.  He came on just after half-time and helped to turn the game around for Arsenal, getting that vital second goal. Whether it’s right-back or centre-back, I think he can be a mainstay in this side for years.

Wesley Fofana

I’m picking Wesley Fofana alongside him. It’s been a difficult start to his Chelsea career, but we shouldn’t forget what a good player the lad is. Chelsea paid a lot of money for him for a reason, he could develop into one of the very best around.

Max Kilman

It was a brilliant defensive performance from Wolves at the weekend and I could have picked a couple of players here. I’m going with Max Kilman though, he was everywhere. He was blocking shots, winning headers, he led his side brilliantly. He picked up a couple of injuries in the game but stayed on and was key to his side getting the win. He’s still young, and someone who I think can take his game to the next level.

Reiss Nelson

I know he wasn’t on the pitch long but how can I leave Reiss Nelson out the side? What a moment for the young lad! He was someone who I know Arsenal had a lot of hope for and it’s not quite worked out for him just yet. He’s still young though and the way he took his goal on Saturday showed what a good player he is. To show that much composure and quality at that stage of the game was fantastic.

Carlos Alcaraz

I really like the look of Carlos Alcaraz at Southampton. He only joined in January and he’s only 20, but this lad has definitely got something about him. He’s got a bit of everything in his game, and I like the look of his attitude. That was a vital win for them, and he took his goal brilliantly. He’s someone to watch between now and the end of the season.

Alexis Mac Allister

Alexis Mac Allister’s amazing season keeps getting better and better. He got another goal at the weekend but aside from that, his overall performance against West Ham was brilliant. He never stops running and is a typical Brighton player, he’s so composed on the ball, and he never gives it away. Brighton fans won’t like me saying this but it’s going to be a big ask to keep hold of him.

Phil Foden

Phil Foden has been terrific in recent weeks. It’s brilliant to see him back to his best, in this form there isn’t many better in world football. It was a typically classy goal from him at the weekend, he’s such a clever player. It’s not going to be easy for City to win this title, but with Foden in this form, they’ll have a chance!

Cody Gakpo

Cody Gakpo is a must, he was fantastic against United! There was a lot of hype around this lad in Holland and he certainly showed his talent yesterday. Both finishes were superb, he showed so much composure. The second one in particular, he didn’t even look at the goal before he finished, that’s a sign of a natural finisher. If he can keep making those runs, he’ll get the service in this side.

Brennan Johnson

Forest have signed a lot of forwards this year, but I’m not sure any are better than one of their own, Brennan Johnson. The lad has had a brilliant debut season in the league, and he chipped in with two more goals at the weekend. The second goal was superb, a brilliant touch and finish on his left foot.  This isn’t the first time he’s made my team, and it won’t be the last in this form.

Mohamed Salah

Last up, the easiest pick of the week. My star man can only be one man, Mo Salah. That was one of the best individual performances I’ve seen this season. Aside from his goals it was his overall play that was so good. He caused United so many problems and created plenty of chances. His right foot finish for his first was outstanding! To break Robbie Fowler’s Premier League record is an amazing achievement. If Salah can keep this form up, Liverpool will be back in the top four.
