Golden Boot: Race to the Top Could go All The Way3 min read
Manchester United have little to gain, other than three points, but plenty to lose when Crystal Palace are the visitors to Old Trafford this weekend. United have never lost to Palace in 16 previous games in the PL and this current Eagles side are the first side in the history of England’s top four divisions to lose their first six league games without scoring a single goal.
United are to keep the points with the draw 13/2 and an unlikely Palace win 22/1 at BetVictor -we do not expect to be knocked over in the rush even at 22/1! United were not at their best yet managed to win at St Mary’s last weekend and, more significantly, the vital goal was scored by Romelu Lukaku.
I have been critical of the Belgian international for not scoring vital goals in the past – take away all his goals for Everton last season and they still would have finished seventh – but here he was scoring the only goal of the game.
With Harry Kane in sublime form and Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Morata all making hay in what is a poor league, the race for the Golden Boot this season is likely to go all the way to the wire.
BetVictor’s odds on the Golden Boot:
Lukaku is just 85/40 to score the opener against beleaguered Palace at the weekend and with City travelling to Chelsea on Sunday, there is every chance that United will be top of the table going into the second international break.
