Each week BetVictor Brand Ambassador Harry Redknapp picks his top Team of the Week, made up of the players currently showing the most promise.

Top of the pile is his weekly Star Man, the player who has shown exceptional talent on the pitch. He then picks his top defenders, midfielders and strikers to create his weekly dream team.

This week, David De Gea and Raheem Sterling make the team for the second week in a row, with plenty of new faces making an appearance.

Do you agree with Harry’s picks? Or is there a player you feel he’s left out? Let us know below. You can also check out Michael Owen’s predictions for upcoming fixtures and don’t forget to visit BetVictor for all the latest Football Betting Odds.

Star Man of the Week

I watched Leicester v Newcastle yesterday afternoon, and I have to say James Maddison blew me away. I’ve known James for years, he’s a great lad, so it’s nice to see him playing at his best again. A goal and an assist mean he’s my star man of Gameweek 16 in the Premier League. Hopefully, he can keep it going. If he does, he’s got to be in contention to make the World Cup squad next year.

Goalie of the Week

For the second week in a row, I’ve gone with David De Gea between the sticks. He was, once again, brilliant in Man Utd’s 1-0 win at Norwich. With the way United like to sit in away from home, it’s vital they have someone that can keep the ball out of the net. They certainly have that with the Spaniard. He’s a top player.

Defenders of the Week

You have to feel a bit for Wolves. They’ve lost their last two in the Premier League, but it all could be so much different. Defensively, they’ve gone toe-to-toe up against the best two attacking sides in the league, only to be beaten 1-0 twice. They’ll be hard for anyone to break down, much of that being down to some heroic defending from their skipper, Conor Coady. He’s a giant in there and leads by example. In some ways, I think he’s a bit of a throwback because of the way he puts his body on the line, you’ll always get 100% from him.

Burnley are so hard to break down. Arguably, they’re the most well-drilled side in the league. I have to say, I’m a big fan of Ben Mee. Returning to the starting XI after injury, he was rock solid. One thing I really like about him is how he stewards the defence. He’s a great communicator and that’s vital when it comes to keeping clean sheets in the Premier League.

Arenal’s 3-0 win against Southampton was as comfortable as I’ve seen the Gunners this season. It was a good team performance, but one man that stood out for me was Kieran Tierney. He worked tirelessly at left-back, running up and down all afternoon. He got an assist in the end as well which was well deserved. Kieran’s a key man for Arsenal, and if he can keep himself fit, he’ll just get better and better.

Liverpool got the better of Villa at Anfield, winning 1-0, although it probably should’ve been more.  They dominated possession, constantly using Robertson and Trent on the flanks. Andy Robertson impressed me again. He never gives up! I’d love to see how many kilometres he clocks in a game because he simply never stops. For his work rate alone, he gets a place in my Premier League team.

Midfielders of the Week

For a few weeks now, Mason Mount has been the main man for Chelsea, The goals have started to flow, and he got another in Chelsea’s dramatic win against Leeds. He’s finding a lot of joy making late runs from midfield, and let me tell you, it’s a nightmare to defend that. He’ll be a big player for Chelsea no matter what happens this season.

Sunday belonged to Conor Gallagher. He’s some prospect. Two goals yesterday of the highest quality, this lad doesn’t score tap-ins. It’s great to see, and I’m sure Gareth Southgate will be delighted with him. He keeps on this trajectory, he’s going to be a top player.

The ever-reliable Jorginho really stepped up for Chelsea on Saturday. You’ll have those types of matches now and again in the Premier League, and Chelsea will feel that was a massive three points at home to Leeds. Other than scoring his two penalties, the Italian had an excellent match. You won’t find many players that are more consistent than him, he’s brilliant in there week in, week out for the Blues.

Forwards of the Week

Once again, Raheem Sterling makes my Premier League team of the week. City had to work very hard to get their result against a stubborn Wolves side, and despite not getting on the scoresheet, Sterling was involved in most of City’s good play. He’s really starting to motor now, and if he continues in this form, it will become extremely hard for Pep to keep him out the side.

Joining him up top is Dennis. His goal ratio is up there with the very best in the league and it looks like Watford could have a real star on their hands. He got his side off to the perfect start on Friday night against Brentford, only to go 2-1 down in the end. If Watford are to stay up this season, a lot of it will come down to this man.
