BetVictor Brand Ambassador Michael Owen is here to give us his predictions ahead of this weekend’s upcoming Premier League action.

Leicester City v Leeds United

Leicester to win 2-0

That was a good win for Leicester at Turf Moor on Tuesday, and they probably could have won by three or four. Getting Jamie Vardy back in the side will give them a lift, and I can see them going on a good run of form to end the season.

Bielsa will be a big miss in the Premier League, I’ve loved watching his side play. Leeds have been brilliant to watch in the last couple of years, but the results recently haven’t been good enough. Jesse Marsch comes in with a good reputation, but the morale around the club can’t be good, Bielsa was adored by the fans.

I really fancy Leicester here. I don’t think Leeds will show much improvement and I think the majority of the fans are still sad to see Bielsa go. 2-0 Leicester.

Aston Villa v Southampton

1-1 Draw

Villa got the win at Brighton last week and they needed it. They were in a comfortable mid-table position, but recent form wasn’t good and you’re only a few bad results away from being dragged down into the relegation fight.

Southampton are surely the most improved side in the league.  I didn’t see this form coming, but every player is playing well. A lot of credit must go to Hasenhuttl for trusting and getting the best out of these players.

I don’t think there’s a great deal between these two. I think this will end in a draw, 1-1.

Burnley v Chelsea

Chelsea to win 1-0

5/1

Burnley’s recent form has been good, but that defeat to Leicester on Tuesday was a real missed opportunity.  They’ve been having to play catch-up having had all these games in hand, it’s inevitable their form would slip.

As for Chelsea, I think they left Wembley last week with more positives than negatives, despite losing. They created plenty of chances against an excellent Liverpool defence, that’s got to give them confidence between now and the end of the season.

I don’t think we’ll see loads of goals here, but Chelsea will have too much for Burnley.

Newcastle United v Brighton

Newcastle to win 2-1

Newcastle’s recent improvement has been brilliant. If anything, I think the job Eddie Howe has done has gone under the radar. Obviously, they spent some money in January, but Trippier has been injured and Bruno Guimaraes hasn’t featured much. Howe has improved a lot of the players that were already there, such as Joelinton and Fraser.

Brighton have lost three in a row, and their performances have dipped a little. They made such a good start to the season that they’re in no danger of relegation, but I’m sure Graham Potter would have been targeting a top eight finish.

I can see another win for Newcastle. The recent form is superb, and they’ll edge this 2-1.

Norwich City v Brentford

1-1 Draw

This is a huge game for both sides. Norwich have had a few tough fixtures and are desperately needing a win.  Time is running out for them, and I think if they’re to have any chance of staying in the league, they’ll need to win this.

For Brentford, they can’t afford another defeat. They’ve not won in the league since the start of January, and they keep moving closer and closer to the relegation zone. Toney’s back from injury, and Eriksen’s getting closer to match fitness, they’ll need those two at their best.

I think Brentford will be desperate to not lose this game, that would be a disaster. I think we will see a draw.

Wolves v Crystal Palace

Wolves to win 2-1

It’s been a frustrating couple of weeks for Wolves. Their slim chance of finishing in the top four is surely gone, but they still have a chance of finishing in the top six, which would still be a great season for them.

As for Palace, they don’t have a huge amount to play for. They only need a handful of points to guarantee safety, but they’ll want to keep their standards up. They’re still in the FA Cup and will want to go far in it.

I think Wolves will win this. It won’t be a thriller; I’m going for 2-1.

Liverpool v West Ham United

Liverpool to win 3-1

I thought some of Liverpool’s play was superb against Chelsea last week.  This is now easily the best squad that Klopp has had at his disposal, and he’s actually got some selection dilemmas. Salah, Mane, Jota, Diaz and Firmino can’t all play in the same team. That’s a good problem to have though!

West Ham haven’t been playing well of late, but that was a huge win over Wolves last week. They kept their small chance of a top four finish alive and got a bit of confidence back. A defeat here though, and I think there’s too many teams ahead of them in that race for 4th.

I think Liverpool will score a few here. They look unbelievable going forward at times, 3-1.

Watford v Arsenal

Arsenal to win 2-1

Watford showed a lot of heart at Old Trafford, to come away with a point. They rode their luck at times, but to take four points from their last two away trips, at Aston Villa and Man United, is impressive stuff. I fear it might have come a bit late for them though.

Arsenal haven’t played since that dramatic win over Wolves, and they’re bound to come into this full of confidence.  I think fourth place is theirs to lose, but they need to avoid any complacency.

I think Watford will throw everything they have at Arsenal, but I think Arsenal will win this 2-1.

Manchester City v Manchester United

Manchester City to win 3-1

City weren’t at their best against Everton, but they did what champions do, and that was to win the game. I’ve got to talk about Grealish’s goal against Peterborough in the FA Cup. I’m not sure what was better, the pass from Foden or the first touch from Grealish. Absolutely superb.

This is a huge few weeks for United, they’ve got some tough games on the way. They’ve had a habit in recent seasons of getting positive results at the Etihad, but I can’t see it this season.

City will be too strong, too focused for United here and they’ll control this game. United will score, but City will win 3-1.

Tottenham Hotspur v Everton

1-1 Draw

8/1

I don’t know what’s going on at Spurs, this must be the most inconsistent side in the world! They look so dangerous at times going forward and yet fail to score against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup. Conte is clearly frustrated; this will be an interesting few weeks.

Everton showed an improved defensive shape against City last week, can they do that every week though? They need every point they can get right now, they’re firmly in this relegation race.

I think Everton can get a point here. I certainly don’t see this being a classic, 1-1.
