Carabao Cup Preview: Quarter-Finals
4 min read
Another masterclass from Manchester City at the weekend and Pep Guardiola’s side are just to win all four major tournaments they will compete in this season. City have reached the last eight in the Carabao Cup and travel to the King Power Stadium midweek with a semi-final place up for grabs.
Once again, I’ve previewed the ties exclusively for BetVictor.
Arsenal v West Ham
This is a fascinating London derby with Arsene Wenger likely to rotate his squad against a progressive West Ham side who will fancy their chances of causing a shock at the Emirates.
The Gunners have already shown in the Europa League, however, that they have a deep squad. I think they can edge what promises to be a cracking London derby.
Tip:
Arsenal to win and both teams to score
Leicester City v Manchester City
Manchester City were irresistible against Spurs on Saturday and Pep Guardiola’s side are still in the hunt for all four major Trophies this season such has been their brilliance in the first half of the season.
They can put their Champions League challenge on hold for a couple of months and I think they will make it through to the last four of the Carabao Cup at the expense of a Leicester side who were brought back down to earth against Palace on Saturday.
Tip:
City to win 2-1
Chelsea v Bournemouth
As well as Liverpool played against Bournemouth on Sunday, I was disappointed with the hosts and will be surprised if the Cherries upset the odds at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have won their last five in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge and I think the Blues will ease their way into the last four.
Tip:
Chelsea to lead halftime/fulltime
Bristol City v Manchester United
Bristol City have won their last four and currently sit third in the Championship and I expect them to give United a real game at Ashton Gate although they haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last five.
United weren’t at their best against West Brom on Sunday, but they came away with all three points and I can see United getting a result as they bid to retain a Trophy they won in such dramatic circumstances against Southampton at Wembley last spring.
Tip:
United to win to nil
Michael’s midweek wager: Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal to all win at
