As one of the most unpredictable transfer windows heads into its final days, the future of Europe’s biggest talents remains up in the air with speculation rife.

With the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea looking to tie up their business, football journalist & transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has offered up the state of play of 11 of the biggest potential premier league transfers.

Antony & Cody Gakpo

“Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Brazilian star on a five-year deal for over 15 days, Antony is pushing to join United as he’s no longer training with Ajax squad. The last €80m bid was rejected one week ago, Man United will insist as Antony is their priority target.”

“Cody Gakpo remains a name on Erik ten Hag’s list, but an official negotiation with PSV Eindhoven as Man Utd give priority to Antony deal has not yet begun. It is understood that Gakpo would be keen on a move to Man United, no issues on personal terms.”

Anthony Gordon

“Chelsea are still in negotiations with Everton for Anthony Gordon. The latest proposal is £60m add-ons included, the player is pressing to join Chelsea as a priority because it’s his dream; the personal terms are already agreed. Negotiations continue, Everton would like to include players in the deal but discussions with Chelsea continue.”

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

“This deal is a strategy game with negotiations going on for days. Chelsea know that Barcelona are in a hurry to get money and register Koundé, but Barça know that Aubameyang is Tuchel’s priority target. Chelsea don’t want to spend more than £15m plus add ons for Aubameyang, Barça want €30m. Talks ongoing.”

Youri Tielemans

“One to watch until the end of the market. Arsenal have had his name high on the list since May, but they don’t want to pay what Leicester requires for an out of contract player next summer. This is why the negotiation has always been slow and there is the possibility that other clubs will join. Tielemans has no agreement with Leicester to extend the contract, as of now.”

Cristiano Ronaldo

“Jorge Mendes is still trying behind the scenes to find a last minute solution for Cristiano before the end of the market. Manchester United insist that Ronaldo is not for sale, but the situation remains open. Meanwhile, Cristiano has always been professional in training sessions and expects to understand the next updates. Despite rumors, Olympique Marseille are not in talks to sign Cristiano.”

Wesley Fofana

“Chelsea are preparing a new proposal to sign Fofana as he’s the priority target as center-back. Three offers were rejected by Leicester but the player is forcing as he’s no longer training with the first team. Fofana has a six-year deal agreed with Chelsea and expects to see when there will be a breakthrough in the negotiations, but that’s not all.”

Lucas Paquetà

“The Brazilian star’s agents are in London to find the best solution as Paquetà dreams of Premier League football. West Ham have submitted two bids in 48 hours, but OL president Aulas always wants the best conditions to sell his best players. Talks are ongoing.”

Jack Harrison

“Leeds want to keep their key players, which is why the negotiations for Harrison will not be easy. There was great interest from Newcastle but now the situation is difficult because Harrison is key player for Jesse Marsch.”

Frenkie de Jong

“The deal has been in stand-by for a month and a half. Chelsea and Manchester United have wanted de Jong as priority target for some time, but it all depends on Frenkie who has not yet opened the possibility of leaving Barcelona. He loves the club, the city and hopes to continue there. Only a change of Frenkie’s mind can open up a transfer.”

Pedro Neto

“The Portuguese is a first choice on the Arsenal list as a new winger. First we need to complete the negotiation for Pépé to OGC Nice on loan, now almost done; then, Arsenal will focus on new winger with Pedro Neto tempted by this chance but not an easy deal with Wolves, at all.”
