It’s been the talk of the town all day.

Everyone thought it was a matter of when, not if, Chelsea would re-sign Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.

But a twist in the tale happened this morning – when it emerged that Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United had apparently seen a bid accepted for the front man.

Yet, it was then reported that a source close to the Toffees claimed that no deal had been done.

All of the above means that the betting on the Belgian’s next club has changed with BetVictor as such:

United have been cut to 1/4 from 2/1 to snap up Lukaku.

Chelsea drift to 11/4 from 2/1 and are by no means out of the hunt – it looks to be a two-horse race to secure the big Belgian’s signature.

There’s been plenty of talk on social media about these rumours, and we’ve put together a list of our favourite Tweets below…

It’s not been forgotten that United manager Mourinho has previous with Lukaku…

While some feel a move to Old Trafford could spell bad news for those who aren’t dab-lovers.

Despite scoring 25 league goals last season, not everyone is impressed with all aspects of Lukaku’s game.

While it’s been an emotional day for both United and Chelsea fans.

No matter where he ends up, Lukaku’s odds of grabbing the Golden Boot next season have been shortened.

So, what will the next development in this ongoing transfer saga be?
