After being treated to some fantastic racing at Cheltenham and Fairyhouse over the last few weeks, Thursday sees the beginning of another huge meeting in the shape of the Grand National Festival at Aintree horse racing.
The very best in jumps racing are gearing up for three days of thrills and spills, including BetVictor Brand Ambassador Rachael Blackmore, who has spoken to us exclusively to preview her rides ahead of day one.
Jason The Militant
My first ride of the Grand National Festival is on Jason The Militant (15:25) for Henry in the Aintree Hurdle.
Last seen getting the better of Petit Mouchoir at Fairyhouse, he couldn’t have done things any better that day. He bypassed the Cheltenham Festival with Aintree looking like an ideal race for him and he turns up here well and fresh.
It would do him no harm for a bit of rain to fall, however, we couldn’t be happier with him at home and expect him to run well.
Next, I ride Jan Maat (16:40) in the Red Rum Handicap Chase. I have fond memories of this race, having won the 2019 renewal on Moon Over Germany, however, I believe there is a very big day in Jan Maat as well.
He was running well for me when he stumbled two out in the Grand Annual at the Festival in 2020, and despite not hitting the form I thought he would since, I think the flat track will really suit him at Aintree.
If he runs as well as I know he can, I think he could surprise a few people.
Me Too Please
Finally, I’m on Me Too Please (17:15) in the Mares’ bumper for Arthur Moore.
I’m really looking forward to riding her. She had a lovely run when winning at Down Royal the last day, so it’s very exciting ride to pick up.
This looks competitive, however, Arthur couldn’t be happier with Me Too Please, so let’s hope she runs well.
