I get started with a ride on Third Avenue for John McConnell, I haven’t ridden the horse before but this will be only his second run in a handicap so hopefully we can have a good spin here and he can benefit going up to one mile four today
My next ride is Pineapple Express, I am pleased to be back on board having rode her over seven furlongs at Gowran back in June. Her run last time out was very encouraging where she finished third, based on that effort she shouldn’t be too far away in a race of this nature.
In the following race I have another ride for Henry on Cape Islay over one mile four, I was on her the last day in a maiden hurdle. Her jumping that day just let her down a little, returning to the flat on her best form she could well be in the mix and hopefully can put in a good run.
Eight and Bob
My penultimate ride on the card is Eight and Bob for Willie. We had a great winner on the final day of the Galway Festival, the handicapper has put him up nine pounds but he is still improving it seems and I think he could well cope with the raise in the weights to go well today. This looks a very competitive race with Penny Out turned out quickly having won here well over the trip on Thursday and Tonkinese of Joseph’s also likely to be a big danger.
My final ride of the night is on Comporta for Shark, his horses are in good form at the moment, the horse has been second twice in maiden hurdles recently and should be well capable of being involved in a race like this back on the flat.
