It was great to get a double on Saturday afternoon. Benruben is a real chaser and he stuck it out well. Arthur Fonzarelli got a clear round of jumping on the day and really showed us what he can do. He does his work well at home, so it was nice to see him carry it over to the racecourse.
On Friday I was delighted to win on Flemings Dream for Ray Cody. She’s a very nice mare and if she continues in this direction, she will have a bright future.
First up, I partner Fierami (15:40) for Henry. He’s dropping back to 2miles here. He ran fairly well at Cork last day and I’m hoping that the step back in trip will bring out the best in him.
He’s going well at home and he should be well capable of being in the shake up at the end.
My second ride of the day is on Telmesomethinggirl (16:40), again for Henry. She won her maiden impressively at Roscommon and followed up with a nice run at Galway.
This looks like a good race with the likes of Bon Retour in there, but I think she’s a really nice mare and we should be bang there at the business end.
Next, I’m aboard Kilganer Queen (17:10) for Thomas Cleary. She got a bit tight for room last time out. She’s a mare that likes a lot of space, so I’ll be making sure that I keep her out wide during the race.
She’s been quite consistent so far and I’m hopeful that she’ll be there or thereabouts again.
My final ride of the day is on Mister Fogpatches (18:15) for Pat Fahy. He had a lovely run when he finished 2nd the last day after a 5 month break. He’s sure to improve from that.
The trip is ideal for him and hopefully he’ll be bang there again and we can go one better.
