This Friday, we turned to our in-house horse racing traders at BetVictor to get their view on the day’s racing ahead across UK and Ireland, and to see if they have any standout tips to share with us.

Round off the week with a look at these considerations from our very own experts in the field.

Doncaster (14.25): Midnights’ Gift

“Some good racing around the country today and it is to Doncaster we go for the first selection today.

Midnights’ Gift (14.25) was a fair flat performer rated in the high 70s for current trainer Alan King and has done nothing wrong since going hurdling.

This daughter of Midnight Legend, who mixed it with top hurdlers in the days of Istabraq, was most impressive on her second run over hurdles at Aintree at the start of December.

Although the form of her 12-length victory that day is hard to weigh up, her subsequent second to Nicky Henderson’s Marie’s Rock was a big step up.

She travelled well that day and time will probably tell that she had no chance against the winner who is currently joint-favourite 5/1 for the Mares Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham. We expect her to win today.”

Dundalk (17.00): Lets Get Started

“Our other selection is on the all-weather tonight at Dundalk. Colin Keane is, in our opinion, the best jockey around this track and it is highly significant that he teams up with Lets Get Started (17.00) for the Oliver McKiernan stable.

The tongue strap goes on for the first time and we expect a bold bid in the 5pm race tonight as he steps up in distance.”
