We are back with live racing on ITV, including a high class Irish 2000 Guineas as the highlight.
Cards elsewhere at Kempton and Wolverhampon take place and are already priced up.
This card has plenty of quality and the Gallinule Stakes on paper looks a match between Mythical and Crossfirehurricane.
At the prices, I think Crossfirehurricane is a cracking bet; unbeaten in three starts, which includes a listed win last time out.
The step up in trip today is an unknown but is of little concern to me, looking at the manner in how the horse has won over shorter. Today, I expect this three-year-old by Kitten’s Joy to take another step forward.
A fine race in prospect here and a very fair favourite in Ger Lyons’ Siskin. He boasts an impressive perfect four from four record as a two-year-old.
He looks the type to handle any likely going here and the yard have picked up form-wise with three winners in the last few days. At 9/4 however, in a high-class field, I think it could pay to have a look at a value each-way play elsewhere.
Last week’s English version of the race displayed just how horses can change from two to three and this field does have some potential improvers lurking. It is impossible to rule out any of the Ballydoyle runners who have hit the ground running. The four involved deserve massive respect but look a bit short to put up each way to take on the favourite with.
My pick will be from the in-form Jessica Harrington yard. Free Solo has raced just the twice; on debut he was a bit slow out the stalls before finishing behind two smart prospects. Next time out over the trip, the showcasing colt improved to finish a good first. That form doesn’t look too hot but the manner of the victory impressed me.
He has been given time and the rider and trainer are in red hot form. At 14/1, I can’t let this horse go unbacked each way today.
