We have just one day left before the final big meeting of the flat season at Ascot on Saturday, so make sure you check back tomorrow for my four selections for a massive day of action. Before all that we have a typically busy Friday to get focused on. Uttoxeter and Fakenham host the jumping whilst Redcar, Haydock, Leopardstown, Newcastle, and Dundalk have a range of flat cards to enjoy.
The closing bumper at Uttoxeter would not be a race that stands out as one of the best betting heats of the day. It does however feature an interesting favourite in Harry Fry’s Ishkhara Lady. A winner on debut, she has been off the track close to two years. For all she may hack up and reward her patient connections, at the prices I want to take her on with Shore Shanty who finished fourth on debut last year at Ludlow.
That bumper looked OK with a couple in front going on since to run well. Trainer Harry Whittington is in good form and I think, at the prices, offers some each way value. The biggest threat to the selection will be On My Command of Amy Murphy’s. The four year old was a nice winner at Plumpton last month, in what was her first start for the yard. What does temper my enthusiasm for her and Kayarnah is that they both have to carry a penalty at four. The time given to Shore Shanty may just be enough to ensure a positive run here.
