Thursday brings us racing from Ayr, Chelmsford, Exeter, Ffos Las, Southwell and Thurles.
We had big news in the last 24 hours as Cheltenham confirmed that the new Mares’ Chase will replace the Novice Handicap.
Those in favour point to the benefit to the breeding side of the game. Whilst the Novice Handicap won’t feature at The Festival, it will be run at Sandown Park.
The race has been a lucky one for our BetVictor Brand Ambassadors. Trainer Jamie Snowden landed the race back in 2014 with Present View, whilst Rachael Blackmore gained her first ever festival winner on A Plus Tard in 2019 in the race.
Ffos Las (13.15)
This race is likely to be run in testing conditions given the current going of soft, heavy in places.
The Welsh track has seen Evan Williams record plenty of success. Also, jockey Adam Wedge rides the track well with a 16% strike rate. The pair combine with hurdles debutant Brooksway Fair here. He showed a great attitude in his first point-to-point run to rally in similar conditions to win under Jamie Codd.
Just the two finished that race, with the runner up subsequently purchased for big money to join Phillip Hobbs.
Do Your Job looks a fair favourite, with his Newbury 2nd looking a very decent run. However, if we can get an each way price about Brooksway Fair, I am prepared to take on Michael Scuadmore’s 6 year old.
