We have a cracking day of jumps action at Listowel where I have my eye on one in the Kerry National. This will be my final blog of the week regarding tipping, during a few days off I will be keeping one eye firmly on Newmarket with some brilliant racing at HQ for the Cambridgeshire meeting.
Listowel 3m Guinness Kerry National Handicap Chase (Grade A) (4yo+)
The highlight of the week at Listowel arrives in the shape fantastic Kerry National. Last year, BetVictor Ambassador Rachael Blackmore claimed the race on Poker Party. You can read Rachael’s thoughts on her mount in the race plus all her other rides exclusivly on the BetVictor blog.
Charles Byrnes’ Doctor Duffy is the current market leader at time of writing. His 7 year old has proven effective over fences with a win at Kilbeggan in a beginners chase. He then followed that up in open company in the Mayo National at Ballinrobe last time out.
For all he is a fair favourite at 11/2 he is just a little short for my taste. I think Gordon Elliott’s Ravenhill at 9/1 is an each way selection worth considering. He was second in this race last year behind Poker Party off a mark of 137. Twelve months on, he has since turned up after a break to win at the Cheltenham Festival in the 4 miler.
The booking of Rob James will help with his 7 pound allowance. He displayed the ability to go well fresh and I fancy him to finish in the frame once again in the Kerry National.
