The final day of the festival arrives, and Rachael added another winner to her growing Festival collection when Bob Olinger was left in front to claim the Turners. She reflected on that before commenting on her three rides today on the final day of the Cheltenham Festival.
‘It was fantastic to win the race but no one likes to win in those circumstances. It was brilliant to see Paul and Galopin Des Champs okay that is the main thing.’
Gua Du Large
Cheltenham - 14:10
My day gets started with Gua Du Large in the County Hurdle, he won well at Fairyhouse the last day when beating Glan by a neck staying on really well at the finish. He can be a bit keen so hopefully he settles. I imagine we will take our time here and hope we get the splits towards the end of the race and do our best work late.
Cheltenham - 14:50
Next up is the Albert Bartlett where I ride Shantreusse he is a really nice horse and I think he is going to run a big race here. He stays really well and seems to have traveled over to Cheltenham well. He was a good winner of a grade three at Clonmel last time out, the recent rain won’t be an issue for him and hopefully he will be there towards the finish.
A Plus Tard
Cheltenham - 15:30
Finally, my last ride of the week is a big one with A Plus Tard in the Gold Cup, the aim is to go one better than we managed last year. He ran a fantastic race back in 2021 and arrives here having been very well at home. He ran really well at Leopardstown last time out in the Savills Chase, I don’t think my ride that day was one of my best I didn’t get him into a great position during the race, hopefully we can get a better position here and can go one better than last year!
