Rachael Blackmore A Late Addition To The American Grand National
4 min read
It promises to be an exciting weekend for BetVictor Brand Ambassador, Rachael Blackmore. She partners Rashaan in the American Grand National at Fair Hills on Saturday and has 5 rides to look forward to on Sunday.
We have caught up with Rachael once again as she shares her thoughts ahead of what promises to be an thrilling weekend of racing.
Saturday – American Grand National
I ride Rashaan in the American Grand National on Saturday at Far Hills. Unfortunately for Sean Flanagan he is stood down at the moment, so I’m excited to take his place on a horse that he knows extremely well. I’m delighted to be heading there and grateful for the opportunity. Leslie Young (trainer) is very happy with the him and we are all hopeful of a good run. Last years winner Jury Duty is lining up along with several other familiar names, so it should be a great race.

Dime A Dozen (14.05) has been a model of consistency. She was a good 2nd in behind Imperial View at Tipperary last time out when conceding quite a bit of weight, and we’re hopeful we can go one better this weekend.
Double Windsor (15.10) ran well in a Handicap at Wexford back in July when finishing 2nd. He looked out of it that day, as he was under pressure early on, but managed to finish incredibly well and beat all but one rival. Most recently, his form isn’t as encouraging. However, off a 14 pounds lower hurdles mark, he could be competitive if he puts his best foot forward.
Evanna McCutcheon has done a fantastic job with Our Jerry (15.40). Despite his problems, she’s got him back to winning ways and I’m very much looking forward to partnering him. He improved a lot from his previous run last time out at Gowran Park when he was unlucky to bump into a well-handicapped rival. Hopefully he is in similar spirits ahead of this one and runs well.
I ride Demain Des L’Aube (16.15) in the Beginners Chase. This will be his first run for Henry de Bromhead after starting out in France. He has been a consistent performer over there and was victorious in his last run on very soft ground. He definitely has potential and we are hoping that he can make a good start to his chasing career.
Game of War (16.50) hasn’t run since December but should give a good account of himself here. I got unseated when aboard Three Wise Men at Downpatrick last time out when still going well and he could be one to keep an eye on. However, Game Of War has got a record of going well fresh, so we’re hoping that is the case here and he goes well.
