Fresh from Thursday’s success aboard Royal Thief for trainer Henry De Bromhead at Thurles, BetVictor Brand Ambassador Rachael Blackmore has shared her thoughts ahead of a busy book of rides this weekend.

It was disappointing to lose Fairyhouse on Tuesday due to the track being waterlogged. The plan was to run Honeysuckle, but since we were unable to, we are now aiming to run her at the rearranged meeting this Tuesday. She’s in cracking form and I’m really looking forward to partnering her again.

Naas

We start off at Naas with my ride on Cavalry Master (12.00) in the EBF Maiden Hurdle. This will be his first time over hurdles after winning a bumper at Kilbeggan back in June. He is schooling well at home, so we are really looking forward to seeing how he progresses.

The next race is a Grade 3 Hurdle where I partner Havingagoodtime (12.30). She ran well last time out at Cheltenham despite running on ground that possibly didn’t suit her. We’re optimistic of a good run today.

I take the ride on Duca De Thaix (13.05) in the Poplar Square Chase for Gordon Elliott. This looks a competitive race with Cilaos Emery in there, but we have high hopes regarding his chances. This will be his first run after being away over the summer, so let’s see if he can put his best foot forward and progress as the season goes on.

Next up, I’m aboard Nibblers Charm (13.40) for Ray Hackett. He won his Novice Hurdle last time out in nice fashion at Downpatrick and we’re hopeful of a good run again. He comes into this one off a very low weight and he shouldn’t be too far away at the business end.

I am looking forward to riding Princely Conn (14.15) in the Novice Handicap Chase for Tom Mullins. I last partnered him a couple of years ago when he was 3rd in the Galway Hurdle, so it will be nice to be reunited with him here.

Dommage Pour Toi (15.25) was last seen at Punchestown in May when finishing a credible 5th behind winner Reserve Tank. He’s had a break over the summer and comes into the race fit and well. Prior to this he was 2nd in a Maiden Hurdle at Leopardstown, before going on to win a decent race at Fairyhouse in April. This is his first beginners chase and Henry has a good strike rate with these types, so we’re positive about his chances here.

Navan

Onto Sunday where I take the ride on Broomfield’s Oscar in a Handicap Hurdle at Navan. This will be his debut race in handicap company and the first time we’ve teamed up together. We’ll have a better idea of where we are after the race but it’s a ride I’m very much looking forward to and hopefully he runs well.

Latest Exhibition is next up for me as I take the ride for Paul Nolan in the Grade 3 Novices’ Hurdle. I was lucky to pick up a spare ride on him last time out at Galway when he won his Maiden. He has the potential to improve again, so it’d be great if he can continue this upward curve.

Next, I am aboard Dysios in the Lismullen Hurdle for Denis Cullen. It’s great to see Apple’s Jade return and everyone will have to be at their very best to beat her. It’s a tough assignment but we’re hopeful of a good run and to be in the mix at the finish.

Runner-up in a point-to-point in April and a subsequent winner at Limerick in December, it will be exciting to see Cobbler’s Way back on the track after some time off. I partner him in the Maiden Hurdle and we’re hoping he takes this transition to hurdling in his stride. He’s been schooling well, so we’re confident that he’ll give a good account of himself.

I’m really excited to team up with A Plus Tard for Henry De Bromhead in the in the Fortria Chase. He had a great novice season last year and we’re more than hopeful that he can build on that excellent campaign. We take on Arkle winner Duc Des Genievres, so it will be a massive test, but we did finish ahead of him at Naas last year. This horse is obviously very special to me having been my first winner at the Cheltenham Festival and it would be great to partner him to victory again here.

My penultimate ride on Sunday is aboard Wild Desire in a Handicap Hurdle. He actually finished ahead of myself when I was on Blackyellowred at Gowran Park last time out. He’s in here off a nice weight, so I’m hoping we can make it back-to-back victories for Paul Nolan and the team.

Finally, I partner Trainwreck in the EBF Beginners Chase. He rounds off a busy weekend and goes there fit and well. This is a competitive race but we’re hoping he is rejuvenated back over fences and is involved in at the business end.
