The jumps season goes up a notch this weekend as more of the big name superstars return at Down Royal. Brand Ambassador Rachael Blackmore gives us her insight into her rides across the two day meeting, as well as her highlight of the week.

I kick off an exciting two days of racing at Down Royal with two rides on Friday. Annie G is the first of them, she was disappointing at Tipperary last time out but was a good winner at the Galway Festival in a listed novice hurdle before that. She seems well at home so fingers crossed she can go well here.

My second ride comes in the Beginners Chase on Champagne Gold. He ran a great race in a valuable handicap hurdle at the Dublin racing festival before being a shade disappointing at Cheltenham and Punchestown. He returns from a break ready to go chasing in what looks a very good race with the Albert Bartlett winner Vanillier and Beacon Edge lining up here.

Gua Du Large
Down Royal 14:15
Onto Saturday where I have some pretty exciting rides. I start the day with Gua Du Large who wears a hood for the first time. He can be quite a keen horse and hopefully the hood can help to deal with that. This is his first start of the season, I don’t think we have seen the best of him yet, hopefully we can get the season started with a good effort in this competitive looking handicap hurdle.

I’m really looking forward to riding the Gold Cup winner Minella Indo, we have had some great days together and hopefully we can get his season off to a good start. This looks a brilliant race with some great Irish staying chasers and Frodon the King George winner making the trip over for Paul Nicholls. Aside from Galvin it will be the first run of the season for Minella Indo and the others in the race. He can take a fair bit of work but he has been going well at home.

Envoi Allen is my last ride on the card for Cheveley Park Stud, I pulled him up last time out at Punchestown. It was found that he had chipped his hind joint afterwards which required an operation, all went well and he had a nice summer break. He has been in a while and seems in great form at home. He has won twice at this meeting in impressive style on both occasions, fingers crossed we can replicate that start to the season and see him back to his very best once again.

Highlight Of The Week
In my first week back from injury it was great to get a winner with Eklat De Rire in the BetVictor sponsored M.W Hickey Memorial Chase. He is a big horse that I think has a good future ahead of him, he got a bit tired after the last but it was a great start to his season and he is certainly one to look forward to for the rest of the season.
