The road to the Cheltenham Festival continues as Brand Ambassador Rachael Blackmore heads to Navan this Sunday. She gives us the lowdown on her four rides.
First up on Sunday I am on Atlantic Fairy (14:15) in the Apple’s Jade Mares Novice Hurdle. She couldn’t have been anymore impressive than she was at Limerick the last day. After sustaining an injury on her first run for Henry, her owner Mark Phelan has been very patient with her. So, with that in mind, it was great to see her win for everyone involved. Now stepping up in grade, we’re hoping she can take it in her stride and run well again.
My second ride is with French Dynamite (14:47) in the Grade 2 Boyne Hurdle for Mouse Morris. He ran well at Navan when he was second to Sire du Berlais back in November. Since then, we finished in behind Fury Road at Leopardstown. We re-oppose again here, however, we will be 5lbs better off, so that will benefit us. Mouse’s horses are in good form at the moment, so we are really looking forward to the run and hopeful he can go close.
Next up, I am aboard Minella Escape (15:25) in the Novice Hurdle. This race was meant to be ran at Clonmel midweek but having lost that card to the weather it was great the race was saved to run here at Navan instead. He ran well at Tramore the last day when winning, so it looks like he’s going in the right direction. He’s working well at home and we’re hoping he can make the step up in his first run out of maiden company.
Finally, I partner Final Endeavour (16:00) in the Maiden Hurdle for Harry Rodgers. He has won on heavy ground on the flat, however, he’ll still have to improve a bit to go close here. If he can find his best form on the day, we’re hopeful of a good run.
