Rachael Blackmore Hoping To End A Frustrating Week On a High4 min read
After a tough week of weather for Horse Racing in the UK, we catch up with BetVictor Brand Ambassador, Rachael Blackmore to look ahead to her rides this weekend.
“It’s been a frustrating week where we have unfortunately lost a lot of racing, so I’m hoping it stays clear for the weekend ahead.
I start off at Gowran Park on Saturday aboard Scheu Time for James Nash in the Red Mills Hurdle. There are only five in the race, and we have a bit to find with these on ratings. However, he was a very impressive winner at Cork, and I think he could be in the shake up here.
Next I partner Envious Editor in for Jessica Harrington. He ran well at Navan two starts ago when I rode him to finish 4th. I thought he would progress after that; however, he was a bit disappointing last time out at Leopardstown. If he can get back to the level of his Navan run, he shouldn’t be too far away.
I ride Chris’s Dream in what looks a very competitive Red Mills Chase. Conditions are set to be very testing which he should relish. He won the Troytown last time out, and he’s is held in high regard by Henry. I take the ride with Robbie Power riding in England, so it’s fantastic for me to be partnering him and we’re very excited about the run.
I partner Spyglass Hill in the Beginners Chase for Henry. He ran a lovely race the last day at Naas behind Carefully Selected, when he unfortunately fell at the 2nd last. He was a bit keen as the race developed, so if I can get him to settle a bit better, he should be bang there at the business end.
Onto Sunday at Navan where I start off aboard Killultagh Vic in the Boyne Hurdle. I take the ride for Willie Mullins in a race where Tiger Roll makes his seasonal reappearance. He has been very consistent in his last couple of starts, so if he can continue in this fashion, he shouldn’t be too far away.
My final ride is in the mares’ 2 ½ mile handicap hurdle for Noel Meade on Dinard Rose. Owned by Nina Carberry, she has won three times on the flat and got her hurdling career off to a good start when she won at Gowran Park. It looks like a competitive little race, but it’s great to ride for Nina and we’re hoping she keeps progressing here.”
