As usual for jockeys, Christmas time means an even busier than usual schedule. The King George is where Brand Ambassador Rachael Blackmore’s post-Christmas schedule gets started. She shares her views on that race, plus looks ahead to five rides on the 27th at Leopardstown.

Gentleman Joe

Leopardstown 12:05

9/2

On the 27th I am at Leopardstown for five fantastic rides kicking off with Gentleman Joe. He ran a nice enough race the last day at Punchestown when finishing fourth and I think he will come on a lot for that experience, which was his first race over hurdles. A nice big galloping track like Leopardstown should be ideal. Hopefully, he can take a step forward here and get my day off to a good start.

Envoi Allen

Leopardstown 13:10

Next up is Envoi Allen. He was just disappointing in the John Durkan last time out and we have no real excuses for that run. He drops in trip today and hopefully, we can see him run a much better race. On ratings, we have a bit to find to beat last year’s winner Chacun Pour Soi for Willie Mullins, that said Envoi has seemed fine at home since that run and hopefully we can get back to winning ways here.

Largy Debut

Leopardstown 13:45

9/4

My third ride of the day comes on Largy Debut in the Future Champions over two miles for Henry. He was very impressive when winning at Cork staying and jumping well off a strong gallop to get the better of Kilcruit on his first start over hurdles. His main competition looks to come from Grangee who was also impressive when winning a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last month. It should be a good renewal of the race, Largy is very well at home and it’s safe to say I am excited to be riding him here.

Hurricane Cliff

Leopardstown 14:20

My penultimate ride of the day comes in the handicap hurdle over two miles on Hurricane Cliff. He made his seasonal return at Punchestown, he will have come on for that and hopefully he can be there or there abouts in a competitive race. He has been going well at home at it would be lovely to get his head in front here.

La Musigny

Leopardstown 14:55

N/R

My final ride comes on Le Musigny in the three-mile chase. He hasn’t run since July which would be a slight negative, that said we have done plenty with him at home. He goes up in trip for the first time and I would be hopeful he can show up well in what is always a competitive race
