We caught up with the rider again as she gives us exclusive insight ahead of another busy weekend.
Jason The Militant
I start my day on Jason The Militant in the rescheduled Red Mills Trial Hurdle. It’s great that the race goes ahead at Fairyhouse after Gowran’s meeting was unfortunately called off.
Most recently, he ran well when 3rd in the Morgiana in behind Abacadabras and Saint Roi. He loves the heavy ground, so that’ll be no trouble for him.
This looks like a good opportunity in what should be a terrific race.
Next, I’m with Johngus in the Auction Maiden Hurdle for Sean Aherne.
This lad was a good 2nd at Gowran the last day when he finished in behind Song Of Earth. He’s rated 113 and looks the type that could go well in a race like this.
Based on his last run, I’m positive about his chances going into this and looking forward to the ride.
My third ride is on Choungaya in the 3m1½f Novice Chase. He was a good winner last time at Fairyhouse over 2m5 and the step up in trip here should be no trouble for him.
He’s a real staying type, so he’s another one I’m really looking forward to on the day.
Then we’re onto Thunderosa in the Tommy Carberry Handicap Hurdle. This lad was a good winner the last day at Punchestown over 3 miles.
He’s gone up 9Ibs for that win, however, he’ll still be carrying only 10-1 on his back. With that in mind, I’m hopeful he can be competitive again here.
Desir Du Large
Then onto Sunday where I ride Desir Du Large for Joseph O’Brien in the Grade 2 Novice Hurdle. He hasn’t been seen since December 2018 when he won a bumper.
This looks a hot enough race, so I’m hoping he can run as well as he can. Given he’s been off the track for so long, he should improve for this run and hopefully develop into a nice hurdler in future.
