It has been a busy few days for me, it was fantastic to get back to winning ways with Envoi Allen at Down Royal on Saturday, hopefully that will be the start of a great season ahead for him. He felt really well, and it was brilliant to get the opportunity to ride him.
Minella Indo also put in a great performance and will improve plenty for the run.
I then got the thrill to ride at the iconic Laytown, it’s a really different experience for a jockey but plenty of fun. I had a great ride on Approbare for Ted Walsh. He seems to really enjoy it there and some horses just seem to take to it. He has finished placed there on four occasions now. Fingers crossed we can go back again next year and go one better.

My day at Thurles gets started on Withallduerespect in the 2 mile 2 furlong beginners chase. She was a good winner at Tramore in August, she ran fifth over this trip on her first start over fences at Downpatrick with Mike O’Connor riding. I hope that experience gained over fences can be put to good use today. She has seemed well at home so hopefully we can take a step forward and be in the shake up here.
Ingenious Stroke (14:55)
The other ride on the card for me comes in the maiden hurdle over just shy of three miles with Ingenious Stroke. A point-to-point winner he finished a fair fourth on his hurdles debut at Galway. He has schooled well since and seems in good form at home, fingers crossed going up in trip will suit and he can go well here.
