BetVictor Brand Ambassador Rachael Blackmore capped off a fantastic four days at Leopardstown with another winner on Sunday. Here she looks ahead to her three rides at Punchestown on New Year’s Eve, and looks back on a memorable 2019.

I’m on Kupatana first for Henry De Bromhead in the 12:40 Mares Chase. Her best form is on goodish ground so if it continues to dry I think that’s going to help her a lot. She’s capable of running better than she has been and hopefully she can do that here and make some steps forward.

Next I’m on Cape Islay for Henry again in the 13:10 3yo Maiden Hurdle. She was rated 81 on the flat and this is her first run over hurdles. It is a big change for her but she’s schooling really well at home and hopefully she takes to jumping on the track. We’ll definitely come on from whatever she does here and she might be one to keep an eye on for the future.

Then I ride Burrows Saint in the 13:45 for Willie Mullins. The 2019 Irish Grand National winner, he’s back over hurdles today. He had a run in December and that should have brought him on fitness wise and I’m very much looking forward to teaming up with him.

Odds

Kupatana (12.40)

Cape Islay (13.10)

Burrows Saint (13.45)

2019 In Review

It has been a wonderful 2019 with so many highlights. The obvious starting point has to be riding two winners at the Cheltenham Festival back in March. A Plus Tard gave me such a thrill over fences then to follow it up with Minella Indo winning the Albert Bartlett on the Friday was amazing.

Both horses have given me some great days and I hope they can continue to do so in 2020.

A Plus Tard

I should also give a mention to the wonderful Honeysuckle who has been a true star. Whilst she may have missed the Cheltenham Festival this year, her win in the Hatton’s Grace was another highlight I will treasure for a long time to come.

Finally I just wanted to take a moment to wish all the trainers and owners I ride for a happy new year as well as everyone at BetVictor and those of you who read my regular blog. Fingers crossed for another brilliant year ahead for all of us.

Big thanks again to Rachael and happy new year from all at BetVictor.
