2021 was a great year for BetVictor ambassador Rachael Blackmore! She shares her thoughts on her first rides of 2022 at Fairyhouse today with us.

Glen Wyllin

Fairyhouse - 11:50

We kick off the new year with Glen Wyllin. This is his first run for Henry, he has previously run well in bumpers finishing third just nine lengths behind Dysart Dynamo and won a bumper on his debut at Ballinrobe. He finished fifth on his first start over hurdles at Punchestown and we are looking forward to running him here. Hopefully he won’t be too far away today.

Fairyhouse - 12:55

Next up is Kashi in the two-mile handicap hurdle for Karl Thornton. He was a good third at Limerick over Christmas, he makes a quick return to action here and a replication of that effort should have him involved in the finish today.

Moyode Lady

Fairyhouse - 13:30

In the handicap hurdle over three miles I team up with Moyode Lady trained by James Nash. I rode her back at Galway in 2020 in a competitive handicap when finishing fifth. Her last few runs have been consistent with the most recent of those coming when finishing just three lengths behind Laughing Trix over fences. Fingers crossed we can put up a good effort back over hurdles here.

Put The Kettle On

Fairyhouse - 14:40

I am delighted to be getting the leg up on Put The Kettle On in the John and Chich Folwer Memorial Chase over two miles five, she is going back up in trip today for the first time in a little while. She has been an incredible horse for the yard winning both an Arkle and a Champion Chase. I last rode her to win a novice chase at Tipperary in 2019. It’s incredible to see how she has progressed since that day and is a real yard favourite down in Knockeen. I am really looking forward to getting on her today, she is in great form at home so we are hopeful of a good showing in a competitive race.

Minella Escape

Fairyhouse - 15:15

My last ride on New Year’s Day is Minella Escape in the Beginners Chase, his jumping just fell apart last time out at Fairyhouse and he is definitely better than that. Since then he has been jumping well at home. He won this time last year at Tramore on heavy ground so the softer going today should be of help, hopefully we can get him jumping better today and as long as he does that, he shouldn’t be too far away.
