It’s great news for everyone in the industry that racing goes ahead in Ireland, understandably under strict guidelines. Every precaution has been taken by everyone involved. BetVictor is supporting Irish Racing with their sponsorship of two races at Thurles on Saturday.
It was a great week. I got a fantastic kick out of Honeysuckle in the Mares’ Hurdle on the opening day. Sometimes the ball bounces right, and that was the case for me here. Henry has done an outstanding job with her. To produce her right for every day she runs is just testament to how great a trainer he is.
We were knocking on the door throughout the rest of the week. You realise it’s a week that can sometimes throw up more disappointment for people than joy. I feel Minella Indo was the one that got away, but we’ll hopefully be back again for another shot.
I was delighted for Maxine O’Sullivan in the Foxhunters. She’s a great person, and a very good rider, so it was great to see her deservedly win this race.

Onto Saturday, where my first ride of the day is aboard Capuccimix in the Novices’ Chase at Thurles. He won his Beginners’ Chase last day at Naas and prior to that was second to Grand Annual winner Chosen Mate. He is very well at home and he shouldn’t be too far way here.
Next, I partner Myth Buster in the Beginners’ Chase, again for Henry. He’s been mixing it in good company, and this looks like an ideal race for him. We’re optimistic about his chances here and very much hopeful of a good run.
On Sunday, my sole ride of the day is aboard Cheb De Kerviniou in the Ulster National for Gordon Elliott and owners Simon Munir & Isaac Souede.
I was 2nd on this horse the last day at Naas. He jumps and stays very well. I believe he has a big day in him, so let’s hope he’s bang there again at the weekend.
