It’s day four at Punchestown and BetVictor Brand Ambassador Rachael Blackmore is here to preview her rides ahead of the action.
I start the day on January Jets (16:15) for Henry in the Novice Handicap Chase. He was a little bit disappointing in Grade One company the last day after winning well at Leopardstown previously in a Beginners’ Chase.
He’s been well at home, and back in handicap company here, we’re hoping for a big run.
My second ride of the day is on Abbey Magic (16:50) in the Mares’ Handicap Chase. She ran very well the last day when finishing fourth behind Elimay at Fairyhouse.
That came after a five month break, so she should improve for the run. If that turns out to be the case, she should run well again here.
Up next, I am on the Champion Hurdle winner, Honeysuckle (17:25). After being ultra-impressive at Cheltenham, she’s came out of the race well.
Epatante and Goshen come over for this, so it goes without saying it will be competitive.
However, Honeysuckle is the one to beat and we couldn’t be happier with her going into another huge race.
In the Grade 1 Champion Novice Hurdle, I am back on Bob Olinger (18:00) for Henry and Robcour.
He’s come out of his Ballymore win absolutely fine. He won that race in impressive fashion, and if he can perform at a similar level here, he could land another prize.
Gua De Large
My final ride of the day is on Gua Du Large (19:05) in the International Novice Hurdle, again in the Robcour colours.
He was good when winning his maiden hurdle at Thurles, however, his last two runs have been a bit below par.
That said, we know he’s better than that. I think the trip and ground will suit, so that should bring out the best in him. He’s well at home, so if he brings his best on the day, he could run a big race.
