Aspire Tower is the highlight for Rachael as she joins us to look ahead to her five runners on the final day of the Leopardstown Christmas Festival.
Fangio De Vassy
Leopardstown, 12:40
First up we have Fangio De Vassy. He won a point-to-point in November in Dromahane so he comes here off the back of that. We like him at home, he’s doing things nicely so it’ll be great to get him out now for his first run over hurdles and see where’s at. But he’s schooling well at home, we couldn’t be happier with him and we’re looking forward to seeing him out.
Minella Melody
Leopardstown, 13:15
So next up is the Grade 3 Mares Hurdle. This looks extremely competitive and there’s cases could be made for a lot of these. Concertista definitely looks the one to beat off the back of her impressive win the last day when we finished second. I’m looking forward to having another crack at her and hopefully we can turn the tables around. We’re very happy with Minella Melody at home and we’re looking forward to it.
Foxy Jacks
Leopardstown, 13:50
Next up I’m on Foxy Jacks. It looks like he’s got a little bit of work to do against some of these but we won our Beginners Chase in Cork back in October. The ground was good that day and I think he’s going to enjoy a bit of a nicer surface than his last few runs have been on, so hopefully that brings about a bit of improvement in him and he runs well.
Aspire Tower
Leopardstown, 14:25
Next up we’ve got Aspire Tower in the Grade 1 Matheson Hurdle. I’m really looking forward to this lad, he was a very good winner the last day up the north at Down Royal beating Abacadabras by 4 ½ lengths, and I think he’ll have come on from that run fitness-wise. They’re saying the same about Gordon’s horse but I think our lad will have come on as well so I hope he can put up a bold show in this. We’re all very happy with him at home so really looking forward to riding him here.
Gabbys Cross
Leopardstown, 15:00
My last ride of the day we’ve got Gabbys Cross in the Handicap Hurdle and he comes here bidding for a hat-trick. He was a good winner the last day, he held on and he had to be tough to do it so we’re hoping he can improve again. He got 6lbs for his win the last day but I’m hopeful that he can defy that and he shouldn’t be too far away in this. I think he should like it around Leopardstown so hopefully he can finish the few days off for us well.
