Firstly, it was about time we hit the target with one of my longer price tips and it was fantastic for those that kept the faith. We enjoyed the 20/1 SP of Highland Chief in the opener yesterday and his owners were so taken with the win, a possible tilt at the Derby was mentioned.
The other point of note we have to cover from yesterday is how impressive Stradivarius was; hands up for calling that race totally wrong. He has been a brilliant horse for connections and yesterday was probably his most impressive performance ever to my eye.
Today is another great card but I found the handicaps just too tough to confidently back anything, with variable weather set to be ongoing.
Eye Of Heaven (Nap)
Royal Ascot (14.25)
This race delivers my nap for the entirety of Royal Ascot. Eye Of Heaven hails from a yard that has some brilliant talent and the fact they have been so vocal about this son of Exceed and Excel is interesting.
Then, when you look at his win at Newmarket, which was not only impressive but broke the track record, there is plenty to back up why he is favourite here today. The third from his debut won here earlier in the week impressively and Eye Of Heaven can score in the Norfolk.
Royal Ascot (15.00)
Jim Crowley has had a fantastic week so far and teams up with Mark Johnson to ride Elarqam who heads the betting for the Hardwicke.
The horse is versatile when it comes to ground, so recent rain will not hinder him unlike others in the field. His second to Lord North on seasonal return is strong form considering he claimed some big scalps earlier in the week at Royal Ascot. Going deeper into his previous runs, I think you can make a really strong case for the market leader.
