Sunday’s racing on paper looks low key in comparison to Saturday but we have a few potential stories to watch and two tips for you to get stuck into.

Zambezi Fix

Gordon Elliot’s runners always deserve respect when they head to Scotland and he has a few chance on the card at Ayr. My eye is drawn to Zambezi Fix in the opening maiden hurdle in the Cheveley Park Stud silks. Richard Johnson’s title defence has been aided by his link to the Elliott stable. This horse is yet to hit the heights of some of his more illustuious stable mates but the two recent fourth place finishes read as form good enough to be claiming a race of this nature. The danger could come from Mayo Star ridden by Johnson’s title rival Brian Hughes, he has to overcome a lay off of over 800 days, with that in mind it is an easy choice to nominate Zambezi Fix as the one to back here.

Power Of Pause

Thurles (16.20)


Thurles hosts the only action in Ireland today with an interesting card my eye is drawn to the closing race which is a national hunt bumper. Power Of Pause for Willie Mullins won his only start in the Point to Point world back in Febuary last year, that was over a lesser seen 2 mile 4 trip and the horse showed plenty to win that day.
