Back to the action today and the opening Novice Chase at Market Rasen is a contest that Monbeg Zena can land, returning off a break of over a year on chase debut.
Plenty will be looking with interest at The Mighty Don who was last seen contesting the Kauto Star Novices Chase on Boxing day, but I prefer the lightly raced eight-year-old. He won his sole point to point back in Febuary 2017 and was at one stage in the care of Nicky Henderson.
It is hard to read too much into the sole maiden hurdle win at Southwell but having won over fences as a youngster in Ireland, you have to expect him to be the type to enjoy this type of test. The fact that connections have persisted is a real clue that this eight year old by Flemingsfirth must have shown enough to be competitive in this type of event.
