You may recognise him from the live racing channels on TV, where he’s represented us the length and breadth of the country at the best tracks in the sport. BetVictor brand ambassador and horse racing expert Sam Boswell is here to lend you his insight for a variety of upcoming meetings, and deliver a selection of his best tips, in his own exclusive column.

Racing today comes from Catterick, Clonmel, Kempton and Lingfield. Yesterday we hit the crossbar with a fourth and a second. Fingers crossed, we can score a couple of winners today for you.

Fresh New Dawn to win

Catterick (16.20)

Catterick host one of their final jumps cards of the season today and our selection sees the current champion jockey Richard Johnson teaming up with young talented trainer Olly Murphy.

Fresh New Dawn ran a nice race when returning from a break at Market Rasen last time out. He had previously shown he can handle the softer conditions likely today and a
mark of 110 looks fair at the level.

The main threat looks likely to come from Mamoo who won here last time out. I would imagine going up for that and the hard race won in could put pay to his chances today. This race looks set to give Richard Johnson another winner in his quest to reduce the gap to Brian Hughes in the jockeys’ title race.

Cemhaan to win

Kempton (18.45)

We may be building towards Cheltenham but the new flat season is just around the corner. One duo who excelled last year were Frankie Dettori and John Gosden. The pair team up at Kempton later and in Cemhaan they look to have a winner in waiting.

His poor October debut at Kempton was left behind when he put in a fine second at Newcastle after a break that looks fair form in the context of this race. He can break his maiden tonight over the mile.

On another note, our See The Bigger Picture documentary was released yesterday. The film, which features many famous faces from the racing world, gives you huge insight into what goes into making a winning horse. Watch the short 18-minute film here.
