I was dissapointed to hear the news that Marcus Tregoning’s Mohaather has been retired due to injury. His Sussex Stakes win where he defeated Circus Maximus, Siskin and Kameko will live long in the memory. Who knows what future could’ve held for the star miler.
On to today where I have two selections at Bellewstown & Lingfield. Hopefuly we can find a couple of winners.
Moon In Her Eye
On paper, Grammata is the most experienced in the field, but I am going to take him on. Michael O’Callaghan’s Filly, Moon In Her Eye brings smart form to the table after finishing 4th in a listed race at the Curragh last time out. Since then, the runner up from that race, Chief Little Hawk has gone on to win the valuable sales race at Naas. If Moon In Her Eye handles the ground, I think she will go close.
This maiden over 1m 3f is an interesting contest. John Locke is the likely favourite having finished runner-up in his first two starts, the last of which was here at Lingfield. Ralph Beckett’s horse does seem to set the standard, however, I’m going to take him on with Ocean Wind. This horse has featured mostly in National Hunt bumper races in recent times. That said, he ran well on the All-Weather earlier this month, finishing 3rd. Whilst I think the horse will benefit from going a bit further, I do believe that there is a race of this nature within his compass. I think the favourite could be vulnerable if Ocean Wind stays on late for a yard that have tasted grade one success this season.
