Another weekend of racing is upon us. Sam Boswell has cast his eye over the cards and picked out his best tips.
The 1m4f Lavazza Stakes (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) on the card at Ascot is a brilliant little contest with 11 horses set to go to post on going which is currently, at the time of writing, described as good to soft. I can’t see Sir Micael Stoute’s My Frankel being out the frame here. The lightly-raced 3-year-old won a novice race at Kempton last time out under top jockey Ryan Moore, carrying a penalty for a previous win at Leicester.
The horse made his debut in the now infamous Palace Pier race at Sandown which has seen the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th all go on to win. My Frankel could make a mockery of his opening mark of 96. Thrown in to a competitive race and ridden today by young Kieron Fallon, who’s certainly a jockey we all know plenty about by now. Sir Michael’s Stoute’s runners are in fair form with a couple of good winners on Thursday at Newcastle and Chelmsford.
I think My Frankel will benefit from being one of the most unexposed 3-year-olds in the race and will put in a good run. I can’t have him out the mix in this particular race.
