Bet Here

Saturday brings us the closing of the Flat season in the UK. It has been a strange season with no fans in attendance. But we have seen some great efforts and, personally, Love has been a horse I have enjoyed seeing. Her Oaks win will live long in the memory for being so impressive. This weekend we also have the Breeders Cup alongside Saturday action at Wincanton, Doncaster, Kelso, Naas, Aintree and Chelmsford.

Sceau Royal

Wincanton (15:00)

The going means we are robbed of seeing Goshen at Wincanton. But we still have an interesting race to enjoy on ITV4. Sceau Royal is last years winner and is going to be hard to beat here. Alan Kings eight year old is the top rated in the field. He has the benefit of a recent run over some in the field. The day at Ffos Las he beat some decent animals. his form is full of suggestions that he will be the best bet here and constitutes a nap material.

Champagne Court

Wincanton (15:35)

This race is always a tricky puzzle to find the answer to. Paul Nicholls is often the man to look for if you want an easy starting point. He runs three in the race who would all on paper hold some form of chance. Danny Whizzbang is the shortest priced of the three. His lightly raced profile over fences and point to point background make it easy to see why he is the favourite. My concerns would be that perhaps a mark of 145 hasn’t quite got that much juice in it when looking at his three novice chase runs from last season.

Present Man is just two pounds above the mark he was on when he claimed this in 2018. He arrives off the back of a win at Chepstow. But at the age of ten I am not as sold on him as I would have been in his younger years. My selection is going to fall on an each way Champagne Court. The seven year old won twice last season and impressed me. He contested a seriously hot handicap chase at Cheltenham last January and ended the season finishing eighth in the novice handicap chase at the Festival. This season he has had a pipe opener at Cheltenham over hurdles and whilst Scott hasn’t had a recent winner, his horses have been going well enough for me to get involved at 9/1.
