After a brilliant renewal of the 2000 Guineas it is the fillies turn today with a brilliant card at Newmarket once again. Saturday saw plenty of big moves in the Derby market, you can check the latest betting here.
Today also have good racing at Haydock where the ground will be some of the softest we have seen since racing returned and a card at Lingfield where BetVictor Ambassador Nicola Currie rides you can see her blog about her rides here.
Shimmering - Each Way
Just the one tip today from the best race of the day, the second classic of the season will have big impactions for the Oaks market and beyond. Quadrilateral has done everything right so far in her short career to date, Rodger Charlton’s filly arrives boasting a perfect three wins from three starts which includes one over course and distance.
At this trip it is hard to see second favourite Love reversing the form, she has been a very popular ante post bet for the Oaks and perhaps will be seen to best effect this year over further. Millisle is another Irish raider who sits towards the front of the betting but I am going to question just how much she will enjoy this trip over the mile and will look elsewhere.
We are paying four places on the race and I was keen to try and find one at a big each way price, that angle is going to be filled by John Gosden’s Shimmering, she needs to improve miles to feature but has the profile that could just do that with only two recent runs under her belt on the all-weather. The second of those was a nice win at Lingfield the fact that connections are willing to roll the dice and have her return very much in the deep end gives me great encouragement she can out run her price.
