A couple of good races around the courses today. Once again, I’ve selected my top two tips for the days racing.
My first tip for the day is Arthur’s Sixpence who runs in the 13:15 at Uttoxeter, a 2m4f novice handicap chase. Really interesting that Kim Bailey’s lightly-raced 6-year-old comes here after nearly a year off the track. Kim Bailey’s horses have been running well. He may have just had the one winner in the last two weeks, but his other six runners have all been there or thereabouts and the yard are clearly returning to form. This 6-year-old makes a return to the track, having had further wind surgery which could eke out some improvement. He hasn’t won since his point-to-point days, where he won over 2m4f but I feel this race will suit him and, off a mark of 102, it might just be that he has a few pounds in hand on a couple of these in here.
Eye Of Heaven
At Sandown, there’s a really interesting card. I’m looking forward to The National Stakes, a listed race over 5f. I’m prepared to give Eye Of Heaven another chance after disappointing in The Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot. Frankie Dettori takes the ride once again for Mark Johnson. This horse was a very impressive debut winner at Newmarket, when justifying favouritism on his first-ever start. He certainly looks the type to be able to bounce back and the surface should be a little bit more in his favour with the ground heading towards good/good to firm. He’s likely to be the favourite here, but I think he can bounce back with a win in this small field race.
