Our man Sam Boswell is back to give his thoughts on a potential upset at both the Galway Festival and Goodwood Festival.
The Group One Qatar Nassau Stakes has a good cast of seven heading to post. It looks to my mind to be between the three at the top of the betting, Fancy Blue is favourite at the time of writing for Donnacha O’Brien off the back of winning the French Derby and will get a pull at the weights due to their age.
next in the betting is Nazeef representing John Gosden and Jim Crowley both who have already had winners this week and then the other contender in my eyes is last year’s winner Deirdre under Oisin Murphy.
It is Nazeef that my selection goes to. For all I respect Fancy Blue’s win and unexposed profile we have seen earlier this week, Nazeef arrives here boasting a really impressive record. the four-year-old filly has won her last three starts since returning from lockdown at Kempton, Ascot, and Newmarket.
A previous winner on good-to-firm there will be no concerns if this ground continues to dry and I think at 11/4 she represents a good price in a competitive field if you’re looking for a to win bet.
Tudor City each-way
The 18.45 is the Guinness Galway Hurdle which is a fantastic race that always attracts a good cast of national hunt favourites. The betting at the time of writing is headed by Felix Desjy from Gordon Elliott’s yard.
The course and distance winner would look to have a very fair chance at the head of the market but I am ken to try and seek out some value. I think potentially Tudor City could offer some each-way alternative from Tony Martin’s stable.
This horse has a decent record at Galway having eon this particular race in previous times and has run well on the flat. he has the benefit of a recent run to blow away the cobwebs at Cork, whilst that on the flat was no great shakes it at least offered the chance to get a much needed run prior to this.
He won this race off 139 last year and arrives here on a mark of 147 but his weight will be helped by the smart booking of Sean O’Keeffe who claims five. I think Tudor City is certainly one to keep your eye on for a trainer who can lay one out for the race and at 16/1 I think he offers a good each-way bet.
