Tuesday Racing Tips Direct From Our Head Trader4 min read
Four meetings in the UK and Ireland today and although quality is thin on the ground, there are still some interesting races and three selections I like.
Fair Kate to win
Fair Kate (17.10), Taunton, comes from a fair family and started handicapping in November on a fair mark of 110. After a pipe opener at Chepstow, the mare stepped up over Christmas winning a fair Class 3 at Newbury under Richard Johnson who rides today.
She was a little disappointing at Kempton last time out but the ground was possibly a bit quick and she was free in the race. Today’s race looks very winnable and I expect her to get back to winning ways.
Down Royal (16.10)
Moonshine Bay to win
The 16.10 at Down Royal is a very interesting race with talented, all be it out of form, chasers. I am keen to oppose top-rated Jury Duty here. The globetrotting 9-year-old has looked a shadow of his former self in four runs this season and connections reach of cheekpieces seemingly out of desperation.
He could, of course, win if coming back to anything like his best but I prefer Moonshine Bay (16.10) who has far fewer miles on the clock and ran well in a typically decent Leopardstown handicap at the start of the month. He faded late after perhaps doing too much too soon.
Getaway Gorgeous to win
The final selection is Getaway Gorgeous (14.05), Wexford. Willie Mullins’ mare has been the bridesmaid on the last four occasions. However, the form figures are a little misleading as she does not appear to do a lot wrong, and her form is solid enough for this grade. I think she deserves one more chance to lift the maiden tag and expect Paul Townend who is riding superbly to get her home today.
Whatever you are backing today, I wish you the very best of luck.
