Sam Boswell returns once again with his selection ahead of a busy day of racing, this time around his pick comes from the meeting at Southwell.
My only tip today runs in the 18:30 at Southwell which is a two-mile maiden hurdle. Interesting little contest here with plenty of runners going to post and a max field size of 14. There’s a couple of horses in here with placed efforts such as Oliver Greenall’s El Borracho who has finished second and third here at Southwell on previous outings over hurdles.
Plus the likes of Rock On Tiger, with Richard Johnson booked to ride for Henry Daly, deserve respect but it is Sean Curran’s Doukarov that I am most interested in. David Bass, who usually teams up with Kim Bailey, is booked to ride despite Kim having a runner in the race.
This horse is already rated 120 based, I imagine, around four runs in France, two of which were pretty good. Was unlucky when having a tired fall here at Southwell last time out having led for the most part of the race.
I think today that Doukarov can get his head in front, providing he stands up for David Bass and Sean Curran.
