After a great week of racing at Ebor and some nice winners, Sam Boswell is back to cast his eye over Tuesday’s racing cards at Bangor-on-Dee and Bellewstown.

Le Boulevardier

Bangor-on-Dee (16:05)

The entire card at Bangor-on-Dee is supported by Donald McCain’s sponsorship. Interestingly, he doesn’t have a runner in the bumper. However, I do have a selection for the race. I think Le Boulevardier is a very interesting runner and likely favourite for Olvier Sherwood.

This horse has contested two bumpers so far. Third behind BetVictor Ambassador Jamie Snowden’s Donnie Azoff at Southwell on debut. That race that was won by Ultimate Getaway, who has gone on to win again since. Donnie himself finished third on Saturday at Uttoxeter and looks a smart prospect. SInce then, Le Boulevardier then ran again at Southwell finishing behind another Fergal O’Brien inmate. Whilst he didn’t quite trouble Beyond The Pale, the winner that day, he certainly looks to have a race of this nature in his sphere.

I’d say on paper, this bumper at Bangor looks a pretty weak affair with plenty of them expected to need their first experience on the racecourse or not quite having the same profile as this 4-year-old. Le Boulevardier should finally get off the mark at the third attempt.

Hand In My Pocket

Bellewstown (16:10)

The second on the card is a 2m4f maiden hurdle at Bellewstown. I think there’s a couple here of interest. Last time out winner Jimmy Jimmy has to shoulder 12 stone for top trainer Gordon Elliott. He was a good winner in a bumper last month at Gowran Park. For all he’s an interesting runner, I’m actually going to side with Hand In My Pocket for John McConnell.

This 5-year-old mare by Mahler ran a fair third under BetVictor ambassador Rachael Blackmore last time out at Galway. That race looked a warmer race than the one she will contest today. Previously a good bumper winner at Bellewstown, this horse showed plenty of speed and I think will really become a nice horse for this stable. She gets the benefit of 7lbs off her back under young jockey Simon Torrens, who recently had a good win at Killarney and is a very capable rider.

Today, I think Hand In Our Pocket can put some cash back in ours!
