It’s great to see racing return to Fontwell Park. It’s a unique track which offers fantastic action down on the South Coast. I’m looking forward to an excellent afternoon of racing and hopeful we can find a couple of winners.
Filou Des Issards
Fontwell (13:45)
The 2m 3f novice hurdle looks like an interesting affair with plenty in the race. The current ground description is good at Fontwell Park, and I can see Philip Hobbs’ Filou Des Issards (13:45) having no issues finally getting off the mark. This 5-year-old has had a few fine placed efforts in his last two starts back in December and January.
He finished runner-up at Taunton and since then the 3rd placed horse in that race has gone on to win a maiden hurdle here at Fontwell Park. I’d be surprised if this type of race wouldn’t be within his grasp and with the booking of Richard Johnson, I am very keen on his chances.
Master Burbridge
Fontwell (15:45)
Next, we turn to a handicap chase over 2m 3f. Arthurs Sixpence heads the market for Kim Bailey. The horse has won twice already since the restart at Uttoxeter and Market Rasen.
I do think for all he has been impressive; he may have reached his ceiling. With that in mind, I am going to take an each-way chance on Master Burbridge (15:45) for Neil Mulholland.
The yard is in good form and this horse previously won at Fontwell Park off a higher mark. He’s has had a pipe cleaner at Perth, so he should be in good shape for this. Sam Twiston-Davies is booked to ride. He currently boasts a 28% strike rate just now, so I could see him being bang there again.
