Sam Boswell returns with his best racing tips from the five cards across the UK and Ireland this Wednesday.
Belfast Banter
Bellewstown (13:00)
We get started in the opener at Bellewstown. It is an interesting field; BetVictor Ambassador Rachael Blackmore takes the ride on Arthur Fonzarelli, but my interest is elsewhere in the race.
I’m keen to side with Peter Fahey’s Belfast Banter. The five-year-old was a winner of an English bumper when trained by Dan Skelton. He started off life with Peter Fahey impressively when finishing second to the talented Captain Guinness at Navan back in December. Since then he’s been a tad bit disappointing, however, he will benefit from a recent run on the flat compared to others in the race. I believe he still retains the talent to win a race of this nature. The likes of Bentham, in the race for Gavin Cromwell, rate as an obvious threat. I, however, am keen to side with Kevin Sexton’s mount and give him one more chance to win in such company.
Stamina Chope
Stratford (13:50)
We move to Stratford for my next selection. We have an interesting race here, with 11 going to post. There’s a couple I would be keen on; Gaot, of Harry Fry, is of interest. She bled on her only start for Fry, when finishing sixth at Wetherby. She was, however, a winner in France on her only other start.
I believe that the safer play would Stamina Chope – Sam Twiston-Davies takes the ride for Dr Richard Newland. She looks the exact type that Dr Richard Newland does so well with. She’s already been given a rating of 130 for some solid efforts in France, where she’s finished second twice over obstacles. The benefit of this experience and being in his hands makes this four-year-old the most likely winner for me.
