With the first London NFL game of the year fast approaching, Liz Bhandari from NFLGirlUK is back to preview the Jets @ Falcons game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Week 4 in the NFL was full of tons of surprises. There always seems to be upsets around the league even if you think that there is no way a certain team can pick up a win. I mean, the New York Jets grabbed their first win despite being heavy underdogs!
In week five we shift our focus onto the upcoming London game between the New York Jets and the Atlanta Falcons. A game that may not have great defense but will sure have some talented weapons on offense.
The New York Jets have had a very rough start to their season and a lot of that is to blame on the offensive line or lack thereof. Their rookie quarterback Zach Wilson has been constantly under duress, being sacked 16 times in just four games! He has still thrown for 925 yards and four touchdowns but eight interceptions right along with it. Their run game is also non-existent because of that line, with three different backs receiving 15 plus carries on the year and only one breaking 100 yards this season.
Defensively, they are surprisingly solid, just injury riddled. What else can you expect from a group that is forced to remain on the field for 40 minutes a game due to inefficient offense? C.J. Mosley has been one of the key players on that defense in his return in 2021, he leads the team with 24 tackles and is a consistent force everywhere on the field.

Then we get to the Atlanta Falcons. I don’t even know what to think about this team, one minute they close out a tight game against the New York Giants and the next they choke a solid lead to the Washington Football Team. Their offense has been the completely opposite of what everyone has expected so far. Matt Ryan continues to be consistent throughout though, passing for 990 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions.
Their run game hasn’t been great at all but they’ve stuck with it. Calvin Ridley and Kyle Pitts haven’t been incredibly involved like their expectations would expect but a lot of that is due to the surprising play of Cordarrelle Patterson, who both runs the ball and catches it out wide.
The Falcons have needed every bit of offense that they have been getting this year as their defense hasn’t improved in the slightest. There is talent there like Deion Jones and Grady Jarrett but overall that secondary can’t defend anybody. Luckily, the Jets have a pretty lacklustre offense and could make the Falcons look like the old Legion of Boom. There are some solid betting points that are available in this contest but one that I think could be the best is involving Patterson.
Patterson has gotten more and more involved in the Falcons offense as the year has gone on and with a weak opponent, he could get an increased number of touches. He dropped in three touchdowns last week against the Football Team which is why I know he has the potential for another big game. I would say he totals over 100 yards from scrimmage with ease.
I would also bet that this game will wind up coming down to the wire no matter what it looks like towards the beginning. The Falcons never seem to actually pull away from their opponents and the Jets don’t have the firepower to break a game like this wide open.
Cordarrella Patterson over 4.5 receptions – 9/10
Cordarrelle Patterson over 0.5 receiving touchdowns – 21/10
Cordarrelle Patterson over 42.5 receiving yards – 5/6
Matt Ryan and Zach Wilson both to have over 324.5 passing yards – 19/1
Over 46.5 total match points – 21/20
Atlanta Falcons -3.5 – 11/10
